Idaho Honor Flight is a 100% volunteer run organization. We cannot accomplish our mission without the help of the community members who are ready and able to give back to our Veterans. We have several volunteer opportunities available that allow for different skill levels and time commitments. Please review the available roles below, then complete the volunteer application. 

Anyone can help support the Idaho Honor Flight by writing letters for Mail Call, join us on flight day for the Welcome Home event, and encouraging veterans and guardians to apply for the flight.

Volunteer Opportunities

Communications and Public Relations

  • Graphic Design
    • Canva and/or Adobe skills preferred
    • Create and/or update publicity materials (brochures, flyers, etc)
    • Assemble Honor Flight photo memory book
  • Social Media: Facebook, Instagram
  • Website design and maintenance on WordPress
  • Proofread and/or edit communications materials

Events

  • Plan and implement events to promote and support Idaho Honor Flight
    • Annual Bash in June
    • Welcome Home at end of flights
    • Pre- and Post-flight dinners
  • Coordinate coverage and booth boxes for special events, such as information booths, parades, or car shows

Flight Day Crew

  • Help ensure a smooth mission on flight days
    • Staging wheelchairs
    • Pass out snacks
    • Help participants and crowd control
    • Welcome Home after return flight
  • Guardian Training

Fundraising

  • Grantwriting
  • Speak with local businesses, veteran service organizations, and corporations for possible funding resources
  • Help develop and implement fundraising events

Hometown Squad

  • Talking with veterans and guardians in the counties we serve about our mission
  • Mail Call packages
  • ID Printing
  • Making Signs for Welcome Home event

Medic Team

  • Medical personnel for flight
    • EMT, EMS, RNs, PA, MD
    • Coordinate medical resources as needed for a group of assigned veterans and guardians on the flight
  • Medical Director
    • Look at applications before flight of veterans and guardians
